Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology allows a 3-D model of the project to be reviewed with accurate cost during the design phase of the project. Working through the modeling process, different designs can be reviewed quickly and the impact of these designs on the project budget and timing can be reviewed. Building component life cycle cost are reviewed so that informed decisions can be made about what components to use in the project. These models also provide opportunities for engineers to see how their systems integrate into the building for better coordination during the design phase.
